Catherine’s background is in the research of domestic issues in China, cross-strait relations, and Sino-U.S.-Japanese relations. She has studied Mandarin Chinese and Japanese and grew up speaking Cantonese and the Chao Zhou dialect. Catherine is interested in the development of civil society in China. She is currently vice president of the student group China Focus. During her first year she worked with the Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation’s program on national security. Catherine plans a career in the Foreign Service.
