CLFS holds elections in the spring of each year for the following Politburo positions**:
Chairman
Propaganda Czar
Finance Minister
Artistic Counselor of Beautiful Flowers
Chairman of the Web
Chairman, 主席 – Daniel Klubis, MPIA Candidate ‘09, China
Hometown: Los Angeles, California
Career Track: International Management
Languages: Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish
Favorite Movie: Golden Chicken
Chairman Klubis hails from the small, capitalist enclave of West Hollywood, CA. As a little Russian boy, Daniel had little to no access to the wonders of Chinese film. Fortunately, while traversing the landscape of constructivist academia at Loyola Marymount University, Daniel was able to study abroad in Beijing, China. It was this experience that cemented our Chairman's love of Chinese flim, culture, and stinky tofu. At IR/PS, Daniel is pursuing the International Management track with a China regional focus. His favorite Chinese language film is the Hong Kong classic "Golden Chicken". A short quote from our fearless leader: "Few are aware that UCSD has one of the most extensive collections of underground Chinese language films in the world. As a club, we are thrilled to screen some of these unique films for IR/PS students. LETS WATCH SOME MOVIES!!!!"

Before joining CLFS as WebMaster and Comrade of the People, Maher (pronounced Mah-har) was wandering the hinterlands of the District of Columbia interning with the International Republican Institute while recovering from voyages in Madrid, Bogotá, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Frankfurt and Pampanga. He discovered his passion for Chinese film while conversing with the ghost of Thomas Jefferson on the Lawn in Charlottesville as an undergraduate studying Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia (CLAS '06). Maher enjoys fine Chinese cinema but indulges in all quality foreign films (especially those from Brazil, Colombia, France and the United Kingdom). Nobody, with the exception of esteemed professor Krislert Samphantharak, will ever offer you a better cup of coffee or espresso during your stay at the University of California, San Diego.
