Dr. Germán Palafox Palafox is the Deputy Director of the Division of Micro-Regions of the Mexican Ministry for Social Development(SEDESOL). He has a Ph.D. in Psychology from Harvard University where he also earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration. He has headed projects to expand coverage in secondary and higher education; scholarships and financing; and extended hours for primary schools while he was in the Public Policy Division of the President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa’s transition team. From 2000 to 2006 he served as Deputy Director General of Planning in the Division of Planning and International Relations of the SEDESOL’s Undersecretariat of Prospective, Planning and Evaluation. From 1996 to 1998, he served as an adviser in the Dirección General de Luz y Fuerza del Centro (LFC), a role that allowed him to participate in Restructuring and Modernization Project of LFC. From 1998 to 2001, he coordinated the MA and Ph.D. Program in Psychology at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and assumed the post of Chair of the Division of Research and Graduate Studies at the School of Psychology, UNAM.
