1There is a three month minimum when purchasing health insurance. 2Personal living expenses for a spouse are an additional $500/month. Personal living expenses for children are an additional $250/month per child. 3Rates apply to fellows choosing to buy health insurance from the university. Coverage for a spouse is an additional $350/month, coverage for one child is an additional $210/month, and coverage for two or more children is $420/month. Health insurance is required for all J-1 students and scholars as well as all J-2 dependents. The fellow can also choose to buy independent insurance. The United States requires a minimum amount of coverage by independent insurance agencies. Please contact GLI for minimum coverage amounts. The tuition, application, and visa processing fees must be paid directly to GLI. The amounts for personal living expenses, health insurance, and book and supplies should be paid directly to the fellow. These above expenses are the minimum amounts that are required by law in order for the fellow to legally enter the United States. The fellow’s sponsor may approve higher amounts to be paid to the fellow. |
