Deadline for Submissions to the Spring 2008 edition is February 29, 2008


The Journal of International Policy Solutions is accepting submissions for our Spring 2008 issue. The deadline is February 29, 2008

Papers should adhere to the following guidelines:
*  Submissions must:
       -  Present and describe an international problem.
       -  Provide solutions to the problem and/or make recommendations
       -  Discuss implementation strategy for the recommendations given.
       -  Describe a course of action, including effects and/or challenges to policy implementation.
*  Length should be approximately 20-25, double-spaced pages (12 point font), including end notes and bibliography (end notes preferred).
*  Format should follow the guidelines of the Chicago Manual of Style.
*  Paper must be written by a current graduate student in a related field.
*  Please include your name, email, and phone number in the paper.

Opportunity for IRPS Students and GLI Fellows:  20th Anniversary Celebration

This spring will mark the 20th anniversary of the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies.  As the school looks back over the changes the region has seen, we invite you to look forward.

We are pleased to announce an essay contest on the topic “The future of the Pacific region over the next twenty years”.  All current IRPS students and GLI fellows are invited to enter and share their vision for the region they may someday lead.  Multiple winners will be awarded $2,000 cash prizes and recognized before faculty, staff, and alumni at the 20th Anniversary Celebration weekend in May.  The winning essay will also be featured in the Spring issue of the Journal of International Policy Solutions.

Contest details:
Subject: The future of the Pacific region over the next twenty years, although writers are encouraged to focus on a distinct region or policy.
Submission deadline: February 29, 2008
Length: Approximately 20 type-written, double-spaced pages
Criteria: The winning essays will be research-based and policy relevant.  Previous classwork is eligible for submission.

Photography Opportunity for UCSD Students:

The Journal of International Policy Solutions is offering UCSD students an opportunity to showcase their international photography skills in its upcoming edition.  One entry will be chosen for the home page of the website and will be included in the printed version of the journal.  The photographer of the chosen piece will get a byline, a complementary copy of the Journal, and $25.  Deadline for submissions is February 29, 2008.

Entry Criteria:
-  Photographs should be clearly identifiable as international in nature (we are looking for innovative pieces that speak to and reflect the international issues facing today's world or simply capture a poetic piece of culture someplace outside the US).
-  Include your last name in the file name of the submission.
-  Photos should be print quality at 7'' by 10'', but smaller photos will be considered (Please contact us if you have questions about this).
-  Preferred file format is TIFF, but JPEG will be considered.
