In small teams, we will work on various projects around the farm, including weeding, mulching, removing trash, planting seeds, and helping to beautify a portion of the Chollas Creek, a habitat restoration project by Groundwork San Diego.
Who is invited?
Students, faculty, alumni, Dean's Round Table members, International Advisory Board members, as well as friends and family of the IR/PS community.
New Roots Farm History
Established in September 2009 by the IRC, the New Roots Farm is a community farm that promotes sustainable agriculture and helps many refugees from all over the world to find friendship and common purpose. The eighty families who till the land are from all over the world: Cambodia, Somalia, Burma, Uganda, Congo, Kenya, Mexico and Guatemala. At New Roots, the farmers cultivate not just corn, tomatoes and eggplant, but also a deeper understanding of their neighbors’ cultures.
