Originally from Japan, Kana has worked in multi-national companies prior to coming to IR/PS. She has expertise in Japanese business practice, international trade, international logistics, high-tech industry, and clean teach industry. At IR/PS, her focus is International Politics specializing in conflict and security issues such as terrorism in Asia and Latin America. As a summer intern, she worked for a private intelligence surveillance company as an analyst for Latin America region gathering civil unrest indications through open media resources. She also conducted research on civil unrest indices from various international organizations such as Freedom House in attempt to accurately capture potential political risk of fragile countries.

At IR/PS Kana serves as the secretary of Asameshikai, a student-run organization focused on Japan's economy, politics, language, and culture. In addition to international politics, she is also interested in supply chain management in clean technology industry. She was technology director for California Clean Innovation Conference of 2009, which promoted clean technology innovation from various start-up companies. Kana is a graduate of University of California, San Diego, where she majored in comparative political science.
