Carnegie Endowment Junior Fellowship: (Fellowship) Junior fellows are currently paid a gross salary of $2,750 per month ($33,000 per year). Applicants must be graduating seniors or students who have graduated during the last academic year. Deadline: January
Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship: (Fellowship)Award up to twenty (20) fellowships of up to $32,500 annually for a two-year master’s degree. Only U.S. citizens will be considered as applicants. Applicants must be in the senior year of their undergraduate study or have completed their undergraduate degree by June 2009 and must be seeking admission to enter graduate school in the fall of 2009 for a two-year program. The Emerging Markets Development Advisers Program: (Fellowship) The EMDAP is an opportunity for current students and recent graduates of U.S. MBA programs or MA programs in international management/ finance/development or international affairs/studies to provide management assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries. Jack Kent Cooke Foundation: (Fellowship) Up to $50,000 award for graduate students. San Diego Fellowship Program: The site contains the San Diego Fellowship Guidelines and Eligibility, Notice to Departments with Nomination Procedures, and the Nominator Guide for the 2009-10 competition. The fellowship award stipends are $18,000 for Cota-Robles Fellowships and $15,000 for San Diego Fellowships.
ICAS Human Rights Student Fellowship: The Institute for International, Comparative and Area Studies (IICAS) is pleased to announce the 2nd annual student competition for human rights fellowships. Successful applicants for the 2009 UC Huaman Rights Fellowship will receive $3,500 for summer internships with a human rights organization. Applications due March 9, 2009.

UCLA Confucius Institute (Scholarly Translation workshop): This workshop was actually developed from an American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS)-funded research project which brought scholars from several linguistic and academic backgrounds together to develop a methodology for translating social science texts. We are particularly interested in participants working in non-literature field, as there are many more opportunities out there for those students. It would be great to have some UCSD student involved. The application deadline will be April 1.
Frieda Daum Urey Endowed:
This endowed fellowship is a tribute to Frieda Daum Urey who, along with her husband, Nobel Laureate Harold Urey, played a prominent role in the development of the San Diego campus community. The $4,500 fellowship will be paid in quarterly installments.The funds to support this award were donated by Oceanids and a matching endowment from UCSD. This fellowship will be awarded to a woman who has had a significant hiatus in her studies and subsequently enrolls in graduate or professional studies on the General Campus or The Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and for whom the award of the fellowship will make a critical financial difference in her ability to attend UCSD. Ph.D. students will be preferred, but master's and professional students are also eligible. School of Medicine academic and professional programs are not eligible. The length of the hiatus will typically be at least five years, but may be as short as two to three years for women in science or engineering or resuming studies after military service. Oceanids Memorial Fellowship:
This fellowship will be awarded to a graduate student who has exhibited academic excellence and financial need at the General Campus of UCSD or the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. This fellowship of $2,500.00 will be awarded to the best qualified individual who is also a US citizen or permanent resident of the United States. Students are nominated by IR/PS Student Affairs.
J.M. Hepps Graduate Fellowship:
Fellowship will be awarded to a graduate student who has advanced to Ph.D. candidacy and is within two years of completing his or her degree. The student must be in good academic standing. If the student is not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, the student must indicate that he or she expects to remain in the U.S. upon completion of the doctoral degree.
The one-year award of $12,500 is given to assist with living and educational expenses.Students are nominated by IR/PS Student Affairs.

The Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies: (Fellowship) color="#666666">Established to identify and support outstanding scholars who are at the start of their careers whose work combines disciplinary excellence in the social sciences (including history and law) with a command of the language, history or culture of non-Western countries or regions. Eligibility: The competition for these awards is open only to recent Ph.D. (or comparable professional school degree) recipients and doctoral candidates. Candidates for advanced degrees must have completed all course work and general examinations by the time of application as well as reached the final stages of the dissertation research and writing. Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange:(Fellowship) The Foundation will give priority to collaborative projects with counterparts in Taiwan. Eligbility: Doctoral candidates who are non-ROC citizens and who are enrolled in an accredited university in the United States, Mexico, Central America, or South America may apply for financial support for writing dissertations in the field of Chinese Studies in the humanities and social sciences. UC LMRI:(Grant/Fellowship) Faculty Steering Committee gives funding priority to proposals focusing on biliteracy, educational achievement, and California. Eligbility: Language must be an explicit element in the focus and design of the study. Research designs appropriate for UC LMRI support language in a variety of ways, including as a primary outcome (e.g., language development) or as an explanatory factor (e.g., comparison of English background and Spanish background). Any non-English language may be studied (past studies have examined Spanish, Korean, American Sign Language, among others) as well as dialects of languages, including English (e.g., Ebonics). Proposals that focus on other,related population characteristics, such as ethnicity or immigration status,are appropriate so long as they also consider the role of language in shaping the experiences or outcomes for the study’s participants.Deadline: October - February.

Government Finance Officers Association: (Fellowship) Must be a full-time student in a graduate program that prepares students for careers in state and local government finance.
Guru Gobind Singh fellowship program: (Grant)$26,000 award for students coming from a South Asian university
John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation: (Fellowship)Fellowships are awarded through two annual competitions: one open to citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada, and the other open to citizens and permanent residents of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Fellowships will be awarded by the Trustees upon nominations made by a Committee of Selection - up to $43,200 awarded
Newton International Fellowships: (Fellowship)The Fellowships cover the broad range of natural and social sciences, engineering and the humanities.They provide grants of £24,000 per annum to cover subsistence and £8,000 to cover research expenses, plus a one-off relocation allowance of £2,000.As part of the scheme, all Newton Fellows who remain in research will be granted a 10 year follow-up funding package worth £6,000 per annum.

UCSD Education Abroad (EAP) Scholarships: (Fellowship) UCSD awards over $500,000 dollars each year in scholarships specifically for study abroad. International Fulbright Science and Technology Award: (Fellowship) Designed to be the most prestigious international scholarships in science and technology, provides talented students with an opportunity to pursue Ph.D. study at top U.S. institutions in areas of science, technology or engineering.
International Students
American Association of University Women International Fellowships:
International Fellowships are awarded for full-time study or research to women who are not United States citizens or permanent residents. Both graduate and postgraduate study at accredited institutions is supported. The Foundation also awards several annual Home Country Project Grants ($5,000 to $7,000 each) to women who received AAUW Educational Foundation International Fellowships between 2001 and 2005. These grants support community-based projects designed to improve the lives of women and girls in the fellow's home country.

The Association to Unite the Democracies:
FEF grants are available to graduate students of strong academic standing who complete one or more of the following requirements: 1) A thesis or dissertation relating to international integration and/or federalism and coursework that places major weight on international integration and/or federalism, or 2) An independent study project relating to international integration and federalism to be conducted as part of a graduate program. Awards are sent to the student's academic institution for direct payment of tuition and fees. They generally range from $500 to $2000 depending on relevance to the goals of the Fund, quality of the project.

The Byron Hanke Fellowship:
The Hanke Fellowship stipends will be an amount between $2,000-$4,000. Fellows are expected to prepare a research project on community associations. As part of the Hanke Fellowship's application, the student must commit to research and to write a substantial paper dealing with community associations or common-interest communities. The paper shall be on a scale appropriate for a master's thesis, doctoral dissertation, or a law review quality article. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited master’s, doctoral, or law program. Students of all disciplines are welcome to apply for the Hanke Fellowships, provided their studies relate to community associations generally and to the topic of the candidate’s proposed community associations research project.

Description: Need-based grants of up to $6,000 are awarded to student activists. Although US citizenship is not a consideration, applicants must live in the United States and plan to enroll an accredited program in the US in order to qualify. Early grantees have been active in the struggle against racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression; building the movement for economic justice; and creating peace through international, anti-imperialist solidarity. Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program

The International Fellowships Program provides support for up to three years of formal graduate-level study leading to a masters or doctoral degree. Fellows are selected from countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Russia, where the Ford Foundation maintains active overseas programs. U.S. nationals are not eligible, although Fellows may study in the United States.
Successful candidates will:

The Fulbright Program supports educational exchanges that strengthen understanding and communication between the United States and over 140 countries. It is an effective and prestigious form of public diplomacy. More than 1,300 new Foreign Fulbright Fellows enter U.S. academic programs each year. IIE arranges academic placement for most Fulbright nominees and supervises all grantees during their stay in the United States.
Many Fulbrighters are young professionals who will return to responsible positions in their home countries. They often are involved in building institutions and government service when they return home.
Foreign students apply for Fulbright Fellowships through the binational Fulbright Commission or U.S. Embassies in their home countries. Students must apply through the offices in their home country: see website for information. Deadline: varies according to applicant country
Humane Studies Fellowship:
Awards of up to $12,000 to individuals for graduate or undergraduate study in the U.S. or abroad. will be full-time graduate students or undergraduates with junior or senior standing in the 2006-2007 academic year, have a clearly demonstrated interest in the classical liberal/libertarian tradition of individual rights and market economies, and are interested in applying the principles of this tradition in their work.

P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund For Women:
Applicant must be a non-US or Canadian citizen who is a woman working towards a graduate degree (full-time) at a college or university of her choice in the US or Canada. Applicant must submit a witnessed statement that upon completion of her degree program, she will return immediately to her own country to pursue her professional career. If eligibility is established, application material will be mailed from the IPS Office in Des Moines, Iowa.
Deadlines: Mail eligibility information to office between August 15 and December 15. All application material due January 31.

Program description: The John Kenneth Galbraith Policy Fellowship Program, sponsored by Americans for Democratic Action Education Fund, is intended for recent college graduates and graduate students interested in careers in public policy or economics. Fellowships are awarded for full-time work during four, six eight or twelve month periods under the auspices of the ADA Education Fund. There is a $1,000 monthly stipend provided to fellows.
