"TDRI is Thailand’s largest nonprofit and public policy think tank whose research works to reduce poverty by improving lives and contributing to the macroeconomic stability of the country. I work on a project to identify key determinants for employment and employment growth in microenterprises. My work will contribute to an article that will incorporate survey data as well as lessons learned from other countries to generate policy recommendations that foster microenterprise development in Thailand."

“I've been developing a website and a newsletter for NESPEC, a human rights NGO in Nepal. I’ve also been traveling to nearby villages to learn about the current food security and land rights campaigns on which NESPEC is currently working. I'm so grateful to have been given the opportunity to be here, and I can't wait to get further involved in this type of development work in the future.“

“Warm Heart is slowly taking off as a brand new NGO here in Phrao, Thailand. We’ve done everything from digging holes in the dirt, going on office supply trips and very recently going through motorcycle ‘safety’ and driving lessons. We’re working on various projects including carbon credits and energy, water resources, micro-enterprises and public health database management. Aside from work we’ve also been having a lot of fun riding elephants, learning a bit of Thai and eating really spicy, cheap and delicious food everyday!“

“I’m working on a project to help the Vietnamese national draft team create a law on disability.  To date, Vietnam has no such law.  I am comparing UN, American, and Vietnamese documents on this topic and have contributed what I have learned from my policy making and policy implementation classes to my colleagues.  Next, I will be meeting with UNICEF to discuss what sort of policies should be included for children with disabilities.”

“Indochina Carbon develops/oversees projects in Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia that reduce carbon emissions. I am assisting with their marketing and business development and recently attended a conference on 'Carbon Markets in Asia'.  I'm also remote-interning for adaptiveARC, a waste-to-energy company in San Diego.  They've developed an innovative new technology which turns municipal solid waste into clean, renewable energy.  I'm initiating sales with potential clients throughout Asia and conducting market research for them.“

“Warm Heart focuses on community sustainability and development through business incubators, renewable energies and various engineering projects. I’m the project manager for the Carbon Credits and Renewable Energy Initiative whose aim is to eliminate the dependence on fossil fuels, and to improve the quality of life in the local community. It will establish biomass and biogas electricity and steam generators powered by agricultural waste purchased from local farmers and by methane emitted from a local landfill.”
