Supporting Fellowship
Why Support the IR/PS Alumni Association Endowed Graduate Fellowship Fund
"The opportunity to support an exceptional student through a graduate fellowship is one of the most effective ways to nurture and support our next generation of leaders."
– UCSD Chancellor Marye Anne Fox
Fellowship support has a profound effect on IR/PS. An endowed fellowship:
- Enables a brilliant mind to study at IR/PS. As one of the top 10 programs in international studies, IR/PS has the faculty, curriculum, and collaborative ventures with top research centers to provide promising students with the opportunity to realize their full potential and make lasting professional contributions.
- Serves as a deciding factor that attracts a top student. Students apply to more than one university, and when confronted by rising fees often must choose the institution that offers the most financial support.
- Raises the quality, reputation and capabilities of IR/PS. UCSD is competing with the best universities in the world for outstanding graduate students.
- Bestows a prestigious honor to a student, enhancing his/her stature among colleagues and broadening career opportunities. It also forever links the student recipients' accomplishments with the IR/PS Alumni Association.
- Attracts top faculty who wish to train the highest caliber of students.
IR/PS alumni are giving a powerful and gratifying gift to their alma mater, because a fellowship serves as a catalyst for change and links a bright mind with the resources necessary to carry out ideas. Once the goal of $50,000 is reached, the fellowship will benefit one student annually. Over time, the number of students affected adds up to create a lasting impact for IR/PS and its alumni.
