Wallack's research and teaching focus on the changing role of states in the modern economy. Her work spans two aspects of this change: first, the building of state capacity in policy evaluation and design; and second, the evolution of institutions to support public-private partnerships and citizen-state dialogue. Wallack's current academic projects include work on the politics and economics of private participation in India's infrastructure development and the effect of federalism on economic reform and investment risk. In addition to a variety of articles in scholarly journals, Wallack recently published a book, Federalism and Economic Reform, with T.N. Srinivasan of Yale University. She is finishing a second book based on her research on India's infrastructure markets. Wallack teaches graduate level classes on policy implementation, policy design, and economic reform in both Latin America and India. Prior to coming to IR/PS, Wallack held consulting positions at the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and Asian Development Bank. Dr. Wallack holds a Ph.D. in political economics from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, and a B.A. in government from Harvard University.
